Happy "almost" 1 month!

Sunday, October 30, 2011

Tuesday, November 1st will be one month since the launch of Le Magnifique and it's been one amazing month. All my expectations were definitely surpassed and I couldn't have done it without YOU. I set a goal of 5,000 blog views and I felt like that was pushing kind of high. I was launching a brand new blog and didn't think it was going to get very much traffic. As of Sunday, October 30, 2011, Le Magnifique has over 11,500 blog views. Is that not amazing? So to every single person who has stopped by this blog and checked out the amazing weddings and shoots I have shared with you, to everyone who "Facebook liked" the posts, left a comment, posted sweet things on our Facebook page, emailed me, submitted a wedding or a shoot to me, shared the blog or Facebook page with their friends.. .THANK YOU!!! I've been so blessed by your support and am so grateful. So, thank you so very much.

I have so many plans for Le Magnifique and am so excited to see how everything unfolds. I really do hope that this becomes a blog where brides from all backgrounds and personal styles can come and gather inspiration because your really find inspiration anywhere.

There are a few things I want to go over in regards to the blog :)

  • Le Magnifique is now accepting submissions via Two Bright Lights. If you are on TBL, we kindly ask that you use this incredible feature to submit your weddings and/or shoots. If you're a photographer and you're not on TBL, head over there and check out all they have to offer. It's a great tool for vendors to exchange images and to submit their images to an incredible selection of blogs or magazines.

  • Le Magnifique uses a really neat commenting feature that is super easy to use. I just want to point out a few things so that you get an understanding of how the commenting feature works :)
    • You cannot comment on a post if you are on the homepage (www.lemagnifiqueblog.com). You will only be able to leave a comment if you are on the actual blog post. I will always post a direct link to the actual post on Twitter or Facebook. So if you're on the homepage and would like to leave a comment on one of the posts (which we hope you do because comments makes us very happy!), all you need to do is just click on the title of the blog and it will take you directly to the post and open a comment box at the very bottom of the post.
    • You can post a comment many different ways. A few options are:
      • Guest. You can leave your name and have the option of adding a link to your site (which if you have a website, we encourage you to add it).
      • Facebook (must be logged in)
      • Twitter (must be logged in)
      • and a few more!
    • Facebook Like!
      • Located at the very bottom of the post. We encourage everyone to "like" the post if there was something about it you loved :)
    • StumbleUpon.
      • If you're on StumbleUpon, we'd love for you to stumble the post!
    • By commenting, liking, sharing, stumbling, you're making me happy and you're making the photographer who submitted their work happy. Also, you're helping both of us get exposure! :) So thank you to all who continue to do this :) It's very much appreciated :)
  • Pinterest :) I love Pinterest! If you're on there, please follow us!
  • We are always taking submission for online publication. There are times when we are looking for something specific. So if you're a photographer, check out our REQUESTS page for a list of what we're looking for :)
  • We've received a bunch of inquires regarding sponsors/ad spots and starting December, we're going to start taking accepting "applications" for ad spots for the 2012 year. So if you're interested, stay tuned for details come late November :)

We have a bunch of lovely features coming this week and my 2 year wedding anniversary is coming up the following week! Yay! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend :)

Friday Finds: Hanging Dresses + winner of giveaway

Friday, October 28, 2011

I love seeing how creative photographers get when it comes to photographing a wedding dress before it goes on the bride. Having photographed several weddings myself, I know it's not always easy because you have to deal with things like lighting and space. But these photographers did a fabulous job at photographing their brides' gowns. You'll notice that these gowns either have ruffles, layers of prettiness, or lace. That's because all that makes my heart happy. Oh, how I could roll around in big ruffled, layered, lace gown. Oh, happiness.

Below are some photos of hanging dresses that I just loved. The photographers are credited below each photo (link will go either to their website or the Style My Pretty site where you can find more details about the photo, such as the photographer and dress designer).

Newark, Delaware Wedding by Stacy Hart Photography

Thursday, October 27, 2011

There is something about east coast weddings that just gives it a different vibe than the weddings out here on the west coast. Unfortunately for me, I've never even been out that way but I hope to change that in the near future. Everything on the east coast looks so beautiful - like this golf course wedding by the talented Stacy Hart Photography that took place at the Deerfield Golf Club. The bride & groom portraits? Absolutely lovely! Congratulations Julie & Tom!! (Julie and Tom's engagement session was featured on Le Magnifique a few weeks ago. To view that post, click here).

Julie & Tom's favorite wedding day moment:
Picking a favorite part of the wedding day is a tricky question, the whole day was just so amazing I couldn't have imagined it any more perfect. Probably my favorite moment was after the pastor announced Tom and I husband as wife and we walked down the aisle together. There was a golf cart waiting for us and we got to sneak off for a few minutes by ourselves, just to enjoy each others company.

Advice from the Julie & Tom:
One of the most important things Tom and I did together before we were married was premarital counseling. I would strongly urge other couples who are planning on getting married to do so. Some people associate counseling with there being a problem in your relationship and that is not the case at all. It really helped us get to know each other in out and brought things to our attention that are important to discuss before you get married that a couple might not think of on their own.

Los Angeles, California Wedding by Closer to Love Photography

Tuesday, October 25, 2011

I just adore this absolutely beautiful cultural wedding from Sammy & Natalia of Closer to Love Photography. Taira, the bride wore a gorgeous Pakistani wedding gown and stunning jewerly, and created a lot of elements for the wedding day and Andy looked very handsome in his suit. The florals and invitations? The bride created them both :) I hope you enjoy this wedding as much as I did!

From Closer to Love Photography:
We had the opportunity to capture the beautiful wedding of Taira and Andy. This wedding is particularly special to us because it was the first time we photographed a bride in a traditional Pakistani gown. Taira made a stunning bride and we couldn’t get enough of the intricate details that embodied her cultural heritage, especially the artistic henna patterns. Because Andy was not Pakistani, the wedding was culturally mixed. This allowed us to witness the joining of two totally different families, now becoming one. Because of the mixture of heritages, Taira and Andy decided to have a more Western take on their Wedding Day. Taira’s main inspiration was her Pakistani Wedding Gown. She admired all the beautiful colors her Gown exhibited and therefore had more creative flow when creating her DIY bouquet/floral arrangements and deciding on the design for her unique wedding wake. May this beautiful wedding with its ethereal color palette invoke creativity for every future bride! Wedding Bliss!
