From Jen Disney: "Burlap & lace, family & friends. Those were the themes of Megan and Chris's DIY wedding. Their family and friends are a huge part of their story and all of the design, table runners, aisle runner, invitations, signs, "guest book", programs, and centerpieces were done by the couple and their friends and family. Megan's mom made the adorable flower girl outfits. There were tons of sentimental details as well. Megan wore pearls that her grandpa had given her grandma and then her mom. "When I was little he would always talk about how excited he was to see me at my wedding but he died when I was 9. The pearls were a little piece of him." Over the course of their 6 years of dating, Megan dried and saved the flowers Chris gave her. The petals from the flowers were what was in the flower girls baskets. Megan also gave Chris a journal that she had been keeping for the past 2 years. She had started writing letters to him in it while she was living in Uganda and he in Costa Rica. She wrote her last entry to him the morning of the wedding. The pastor who married the couple was the same pastor who married Megan's parents 29 years before. Orange is Megan's color and green is Chris's favorite so they tried to incorporate pops of their favorite colors into the wedding. She wore burlap Tom's for the ceremony and then changed into the orange Tom's that had been a birthday gift from Chris. The girls all picked their own grey dresses and wore matching black lace Tom's and custom made necklaces. The guys wore grey as well with orange ties and orange knit ties with monogramed tie bars from etsy. During cocktail hour, guests snacked on goodies from the make your own trail mix bar. Guests dined under the stars and danced the night away under a canopy of lights."
