Their love story: Britt knew my family before I ever met him. My sister and his little sister were both in my sorority and were best friends, so naturally she knew Britt. Not only did she know Britt before me, but his mom tricked him into going to get a pedicure during a Mom's Weekend for the Sorority and my mom met him too. Who knew that a few months later we would be dating? Britt and I had a class together during the Fall Semester of our Senior years at UT, we ended up sitting next to each other and studying together due to our sisters knowing each other. Around this time I told my roommate and best friend that I was going to marry Britt (it was fate!). After spending time together we started dating and instantly we were inseparable. We both felt like we met "the one" early on and it was amazing how quickly we went from two single people to two people who did everything together. From those early days we both knew. Not long later we had two dogs (Bonnie, a black lab, who we call "Britt's dog" and Beau, a golden retriever, who we call "my dog") and had our life together planned out.
The proposal: Britt and I were going on a cruise for spring break (2012) and I just knew he was going to propose, so naturally I told all my girlfriends what I suspected. The day before we left we were at my parents house and Britt asked me if I wanted to go ring shopping--he said he just didn't know what I wanted--my heart sunk! The next morning we had to get up early to leave for Galveston and so around 5 am Britt came into my room to wake me up, which was immediately met by "just a few more minutes" (I am not a morning person). After that Bonnie jumped up on the bed and snuggled up close to me. Britt started to tell me how much he loved me, and what our relationship meant to him, and how sorry he was that he wasn't going to propose on the cruise (a response to my disappointment the night before). However, he told me that Bonnie had a present for me that he thought would cheer me up, when I turned over to look at Bonnie I noticed that she had a big white bow around her neck with an engagement ring on it! When I turned back to Britt in shock he asked me to marry him and of course I said yes!! I was so excited I could barely contain my excitement so naturally I called ALL my girlfriends to tell them the big news, forgetting it was 5:00 in the morning! Naturally, the reactions I got were a lot more groggy than I would have hoped! However, they all called back at a more reasonable hour so excited for us!
About their engagement session: Britt and I wanted to do engagement pictures outside so we could incorporate our dogs and Britt's love of the outdoors. We picked Britt's family's ranch in east Texas to do the pictures at the end of the summer, and Kimberly graciously agreed to drive out there. The day of our engagement pictures it rained ALL day, and needless to say I was very nervous! However, as cliche as it seems, 30 minutes before Kimberly was supposed to arrive it stopped raining, the clouds moved quickly off to the east, and the sun came out! We had so much fun taking pictures around the ranch and with the dogs (even when they seemed to find tree branches and Kimberly's husband more entertaining than Britt, me, and the camera). We are so thankful for her work and can't wait for the wedding!
